Electronic cigarettes have a short history as they were introduced in 2003 by the SBT Co. Ltd. of Beijing, China. After the first launch, Ruyan developed the electronic products further and introduced electronic cigarettes to the European market at a 2006 Austrian conference. Marketing promotions assigned the name “Electro fag” to electronic cigarettes.

Electronics have evolved quite a bit since the 1980’s, when electronics displays really started to make their mark on the world. It’s interesting to see the hardware and electronics behind each evolution, as we can use it to better understand where the industry came from and where it’s going.

The MapReduce programming framework was first developed by Google to be an extremely efficient way to deal with massive amounts of data. In many companies, data needs to be accessed very quickly, and this framework was originally designed to be able to deal with data that was even spread across thousands of individual machines.

The e-cigarette industry launched the Electronic Cigarette Association to provide a platform to speak for the producers, distributors and retailers of electronic cigarettes. The trade association was formed in 2009 in Washington, D.C. and is funded through donations and by the members. The ECA answers questions about e-cigs, provides accurate information and focuses on public relations.
