The first one is more geared to people who have been lifting a while and are pushing heavy *** weights. How do I know this? Cause I actually talk to big guys and understand why and how they train. Most started training atleast 2-3 muscle groups on days.

You're young relatively a beginner. So take advantage of this and hit your muscle groups as much as you can without hurting your recovery. Always listen to your body though.

I'm doing this routine currently and I think it's great to pack a whole bunch of overall mass. Then I'll transition into some different after I drain this of all the gains.

Day 1: chest, biceps, triceps
Day 2: legs
Day 3: off
Day 4: shoulders, back
Day 5: off

that second routine I dont really like.
Really watch your lower back though and be careful. I see some potential for injury working out back and legs very close depending on the exercises you pick.

anyways keep in mind progressing in weights or reps + eating more calories then you burn a day will be the determining factor in gaining muscle and strength. Remember always look to improve your lifts!!!

Look most big guys I know started with doing muscle groupings like similar to what I recommended.

All these other guys doing one muscle group a day might hit some muscles only once every 6-7 days. Now what would happen if you instead hit a muscle group about twice in those days? You're going to cause more stimulus more chance to get stronger and I guarantee you'll be a lot bigger then these other beginners doing one muscle group every 6-7 days. Given you eat enough. I put money on it you'll be bigger and stronger in the end.
